Another Step – AMATS’ Draft 2015 Pedestrian Plan

Diners Crossing - Web SiteWith the release of its Draft 2015 Pedestrian Plan for public review, AMATS is taking the Greater Akron area one step closer to 2040. The 2015 Pedestrian Plan will be used by the agency as one of several significant inputs during the development of the area’s upcoming long-range Regional Transportation Plan.

An update to the plan approved three years ago, the new 2015 Pedestrian Plan takes additional key steps forward to promote regional walkability and connectivity. The purpose of this draft plan is to promote a pedestrian-friendly environment where public spaces, including streets and off-street paths, offer a high level of comfort, convenience, efficiency, quality of experience and safety throughout the Greater Akron area. When walking is easy, enjoyable and safe, residents can easily integrate walking into their daily lives and experience the health benefits of regular physical activity.
