Barberton: Bringing It All Together

AMATS, together with the city of Barberton and the Barberton Community Foundation, co-hosted a July 26 Switching Gears Conference.  The agency has hosted similar events to promote liveable planning practices throughout the Greater Akron area.  Event organizers hope that the conference will encourage the public to support such practices as Barberton continues its ongoing connectivity renaissance.

Taking Charge – Barberton Mayor William Judge, at right, hand raised, leads the group discussion at a stopping point during the conference’s bike ride through the “Magic Mile” Corridor.

The conference included presentations by Jason Roberts of the Better Block and Charles Marohn of Strong Towns.  The day’s events included an afternoon bike ride or a guided walking tour through Barberton’s “Magic Mile” Corridor.
