How to Take a HAWK for a Walk

A HAWK has made a perch in Akron, only it’s not a fine-feathered friend. This HAWK is a friend to pedestrians and cyclists and is a High intensity Activated crosswalk (HAWK).

Akron Traffic Engineer Dave Gasper says that city officials selected a HAWK for Akron’s Brittain Road while planning the Freedom Trail. The idea soon took flight with Akron officials and more HAWKs may come to roost in the Greater Akron area in the days ahead.

Don’t miss the opening of Akron’s first HAWK signal! The HAWK signal will allow bicyclists and pedestrians to safely cross Brittain Road along the Freedom Trail.

When: Tuesday, June 23, 2015 – 10:00AM

Where: Brittain Rd at the Freedom Trail
