Agency’s Connecting Communities outreach goes ‘Green’

AMATS took its Connecting Communities message to the floor of the Green City Council.  Transportation Planner Phyllis Jividen made a July 12 appearance before the council’s Transportation, Connectivity and Storm Water Committee.

Jividen was invited to appear before the committee by Green Ward 4 Councilman John Summerville to discuss the agency’s efforts to promote bicycle and pedestrian connectivity.  Her appearance came on the heels of similar presentations on June 28 by David Whited, chief of planning and development with Metro Parks Serving Summit County, and Debora Rolland, vice president of operations and development with the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition.

Summerville hopes to tie Green and its neighbor, New Franklin, into the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.  Green officials have indicated an interest in pursuing a feasibility study of an east-west link to the trail and may work with New Franklin and Metro Parks to apply for a grant through AMATS’ Connecting Communities Planning Grant Program.
