AMATS Announces New Round of Funding

AMATS is accepting a new round of applications for transportation projects.  Federal transportation funding is available for new projects in fiscal years 2018 and 2019.  It is possible that some of this funding may be available earlier than 2018, depending how a given project fits into the agency’s overall funding program.

Requests will be accepted for roadway, bicycle, and pedestrian transportation projects to be funded under the:

  1. Surface Transportation Program (STP)
  2. Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP)
  3. AMATS Resurfacing Program (STP funding)

Please use the Project Information Form to identify each project you are interested in applying for.

In order to be eligible for federal funds, projects must be consistent with Transportation Outlook 2035, the Regional Transportation Plan.  This Plan is available on the AMATS web site at www.amatsplanning.org.  It places a priority on projects which preserve or maintain the existing transportation system.

The deadline to submit the Letter of Intent/Project Information Forms is October 18, 2013.  Once all Project Information Forms are processed by the Staff, actual project applications will be sent to all sponsors in late October or early November.

A more detailed explanation of the funding programs and the project selection process is included in the AMATS Funding Policy Guidelines dated September 2013.  This report can be found here. For your information, the project selection process timeline is on page 19 of the Funding Policy Guidelines.

If you have specific questions regarding the Project Information Forms, or the application process in general, please feel free to email Victor Botosan at vbotosan@akronohio.gov or call at 330-375-2436.
