GOT ANY IDEAS? If you have any thoughts about how to improve connectivity in the Montrose area, shown above, then we want to hear from you.

AMATS, Bath and Copley townships and METRO invite you to participate in the creation of the Montrose Connectivity Plan at the Acme Fresh Market in Montrose on May 15.  The meeting is an opportunity for those who live, work, shop and dine in the Montrose area to share their ideas on how to improve connectivity within one of the Greater Akron area’s largest retail districts.

The meeting is another step in the development of the Montrose Connectivity Plan.  Last May, the agency awarded Bath and Copley townships a $50,000 grant from its Connecting Communities Planning Grant Program.  The plan will identify pedestrian, bicycle, public transportation and traffic improvements throughout the Montrose area and offer ideas as to how to enhance the area as a destination and experience.

The meeting begins at 5 p.m. in the Acme Community Room located at 3979 Medina Road (State Route 18) in Akron.  Along with a brief presentation, the meeting will feature stations to discuss issues and ideas regarding such topics as biking and walking, public transportation service, vehicular access, and land use.

The meeting is a follow-up to AMATS’ recently completed Building a Better Montrose survey, which generated 740 responses.  A full 80 percent of respondents indicated that they believe the area’s traffic makes it too dangerous for walking and cycling.  Nearly two-thirds of respondents indicated that the absence of sidewalks and safe crosswalks prevents them from walking.
