All funding is provided through the federal government by the federal gas tax which is paid when consumers purchase gasoline. This table provides an overview of the funding programs that AMATS administers. AMATS uses these funds to help communities pay for road maintenance, safety improvements, congestion relief and bike and pedestrian infrastructure. Rounds of funding are held every other year, with the next round scheduled for fall 2025.

AMATS maintains a Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) that includes all projects that use federal transportation funds over a four year period. The current TIP includes projects from Fiscal Year 2024 to 2027. AMATS fiscal year begins every year on July 1 and ends June 30. For example, Fiscal Year 2026 begins on July 1, 2025.

The DRAFT TIP is available for public comment from March 11 through April 11. This document will be presented at the March 20 virtual meeting of the Citizens Involvement Committee.
